About Us

Preserving Pompano Beach History for Future Generations

The Historic Alliance of Pompano Beach is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and celebrating the people, places, and stories that shaped our community. Through restoration, education, advocacy, and public engagement, we work to protect Pompano Beach’s historiccharacter while creating opportunities for residents and visitors to experience that history in meaningful ways.

Pompano Beach is one of South Florida’s oldest communities. Its story is rooted in pioneer families, agriculture, coastal life, transportation, civic growth, and generations of residents who helped build the city we know today. Preserving that story is not only about saving buildings. It is about honoring the people, neighborhoods, landmarks, and memories that give Pompano Beach its identity.

Our Mission

Our mission is to preserve, promote, and celebrate the history of Pompano Beach for present and future generations.

We believe that history should be accessible, engaging, and connected to everyday life. Whether through restored landmarks, educational programs, community events, walking tours, exhibits, or preservation projects, our goal is to help people feel connected to the story of our city.

What We Do

The Historic Alliance of Pompano Beach supports projects and programs that bring local history to life. Our work includes historic preservation, public education, community outreach, cultural programming, and support for restoration efforts throughout the city.

We help share the stories behind important places, advocate for the protection of historic resources, and encourage residents to take an active role in preserving the past. From landmark restoration to educational events, every project helps strengthen the connection between Pompano Beach’s history and its future.

Why Preservation Matters

Historic preservation helps communities remember where they came from. It protects the character of a city, creates meaningful public spaces, supports education, and gives future generations a chance to understand the people and places that came before them.

In Pompano Beach, preservation is especially important because the city has grown and changed quickly. As new development continues, it is essential that the community’s historic landmarks and cultural stories remain visible and valued.

By preserving history, we protect more than old buildings. We protect identity, memory, and community pride.

Our Vision

We envision a Pompano Beach where history is celebrated, preserved, and woven into the life of the community. Through partnerships, public support, and thoughtful restoration, we are helping create spaces where residents and visitors can learn, gather, and connect.

The McNab House & Botanical Gardens project is an important example of this vision. Built in 1926, the McNab House is connected to one of Pompano Beach’s early pioneer families and is now being reimagined as part of a larger botanical garden and community destination.
